Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou-Share a poem Sunday

Hello my friends,

I have been on a long holiday from blogging. Having a child with a broken leg, as everything in life has its benefits. More than anything the whole experience has taught me to  make the effort to appreciate every day as it is.

Looking after my son, nurturing him, making sure he is comfortable and content has made me realize over and over again how good it feels to give care and love. I feel, that motherhood truly unleashed my strengths and grace few years ago. The energy , that comes from nurturing and loving is like no other.

Today I decided to share a poem, that I have loved for a long time. I read the poem for the first time a few years ago on Facebook and today I want to share it with you .

Phenomenal Woman is every woman. To be a woman to me means to nurture, love, care, receive and embrace change, to walk with grace. To embody the mystical life force , that fuels all life with her body and with strength, gratitude and love be here for all life.

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
‘Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

And You!

Thank you so much for visiting my site. I was born and raised in Bulgaria (a small country in  Eastern Europe). I moved to Northern Ireland when I was 22 years old, full of hope, big dreams and an adventurous spirit. I am the mother of four wonderful boys and although I am very grateful for each lesson I've learned in my life, I wish that some things might have happened sooner, but everything has it’s place and everything that is  worthwhile is not always easy.  I want to connect with you. Get in touch.
