One of the many reasons, that I decided to do a raw food detox is the fact , that there are some incredible health benefits of doing a raw food detox.I believe that healing starts from the inside out. I believe that you can feel better if you put good foods into your body and to confirm that I can reassure you how wonderful it feels to be vegan. My energy levels and overall wellness are amazing and I feel , that now would be the perfect time to give my body a break , that it needs from breads, pasta, rice, falafels, onion bhaji , rice noodles, bean burgers , cookies and any other cooked food.
After reading Vesanto Melina ‘s book “Becoming Raw” I have decided to do a raw food detox. There are many ways to do a detox-some people do a juice feast, use herbal teas, water fast and many other, but in my opinion the raw food detox provides abundance of food and you are very unlikely to feel deprived or hungry.
According to Vesanto Melina, who is registered dietitian , increasing the amount of raw foods in your diet will improve your overall health and in some cases will naturally relive chronic illnesses.
When you cook foods, you inevitably destroy some of the enzymes, vitamins and minerals necessary for good health. If we eat too much overly-cooked and processes foods, it can clog your colon, which may lead to a whole list of problems, including, cancer, heart-disease, diabetes and many other degenerative diseases.
Cooking may actually upset the natural structure of food, robbing it of its essential nutritional value .For example, cooked carbohydrates can do much more than create weight problems. They can turn into a carcinogen called acrylamide, a chemical used to make plastics and dyes that has caused cancer in animals – the higher the cooking temperature, the greater the levels of acrylamide.
Frying, one of the worst kinds of cooking, makes oils oxidize creating harmful ‘free radicals’ and increasing the risk of cancer, heart disease and premature aging. Ironically, frying also destroys the Vitamins A and E which we need to protect us from free radicals.
Raw foods are also extremely high in nutrients such as potassium, magnesium, fiber and plant phytochemical.
Here are some benefits of doing a raw food detox.
The most noticeable benefits from detoxification are the physical ones.
Since the toxins store up in major organs, detoxification will help these areas the most.
The organs which are affected, such as the liver and stomach, will begin to work more effectively.
After the detox is completed, you may feel “lighter” and have more energy. Also, since a detox is used to clear away free radicals, your body’s immune system will be stronger .
Another benefit of the raw food detox is the fact , that will clear your blood, helping it circulate better.
On a personal level I am looking forward to detox my body from slat, sugar , wheat , rice and cooked foods. I love the feeling , that being vegan gives me , so doing detox is me trying to find an answer to the question “Can it get any better, than this?”.
