Habits sneak into our lives because they make our lives easier, not necessarily better. It’s time to choose the ones that make your life better.
How can you change your life by changing just 3 simple habits?
Building these simple habits into your day helps create a growth mindset which in turn, brings new opportunities to you and can change your life.
Change is hard, scary and most of us try to avoid it at all costs. We like to stay in our comfort zone. That’s not surprising, it’s called a comfort zone for a reason; it’s comfortable.
But if you want to grow, you need to step beyond your comfort zone and embrace the unknown.
Life begins at the edge of your comfort zone.
In order to grow, learn and achieve your goals you need to create a habit of always pushing yourself past that which feels comfortable.
It can change your life and the more you do it the easier it becomes until it too becomes a habit.
Seek first to understand, then to be understood
Once upon a time, I worked in a call centre.
I learned a lot about human behaviour while helping people solve their online order problems over the phone.
One of the first things I learned was that people will often take out their (non-shopping related) frustrations on the anonymous person on the other end of the phone.
Initially, I’d react to this, but after a while, I discovered that if I just let them vent their frustrations without trying to solve anything, we were eventually able to solve their shopping related problems and sometimes whatever was causing their other frustrations, too.
Plus, by the end of the call, they were grateful for the sympathetic ear at the other end of the phone.
All too often, we react without understanding the full story.
“Seek first to understand and then to be understood”
Celebrate Your Wins
Make it a habit to celebrate your wins. High fives might seem cliche but there’s magic in the movement.
Make a habit of saying the right thing to yourself and others with your body language.
Small tweaks can bring about big changes.
Have a little fun, too. Life’s too short for anything less.
If you can, encourage celebrating wins with your friends, family and work colleagues.
This will have an uplifting effect on the energy and mood in your life.
Mood is contagious so make sure the right one is catching. You won’t just be changing your life, you’ll be changing the lives of those around you.
Thank you for reading my post and being here!
Have an amazing day!
